Riverside Radiance captures the tranquil beauty of a river landscape, where the interplay of light and water creates an atmosphere of serenity and warmth. Through the encaustic medium, I explore the luminous quality of light reflecting off the river’s surface, blending vibrant hues and soft textures to evoke a sense of peace and wonder.
Won third place at the Waterford Fine Art Festival 2026. Judge’s Note: Third Place, Mixed Media: Anne Stine, “Riverside Radiance”
This is a painting that very successfully relies on the skillful placement of large shapes of color to create the illusion of distance, light, air, water, and sky. Hue, value, and intensity are expertly employed to this end. And the fact that not one of these shapes, when observed singly, says “tree” or “cloud” or “reflection” is at the center of this painting’s magic.
