Commissions

Looking for a customized work of art for your home or office?

I’ve created many commissioned paintings for happy clients. Here is the process of how I work with a client from start to finish to help you understand what to expect when commissioning a painting.

5 Easy Steps to Commissioning a Painting

#1

Contact me and we’ll discuss turning your vision into a reality. Send reference images or pick one from my website.

#2

I’ll provide a quote based on size and details in a simple agreement detailing scope of work, timeline, payment schedule, and delivery options.

#3

Schedule your commission by sending in a deposit of 50% of the total fee.

#4

I’ll provide a sketch of the artwork for your approval before I begin. You’ll have a chance to make any changes at this time and when the painting is about 75% complete.

#5

When the final painting is completed and approved, you pay the balance and arrange for pick up or shipping.

Things to think about when commissioning a painting

What medium and size are you interested in?
I’m a mixed media painter specializing in encaustic wax landscape artwork who paints in a wide variety of sizes. However, I’m also well experienced in traditional oil and acrylic painting of still life, portraiture, architecture, and animals.

What is your time frame?

I ask my clients to allow four to six weeks from the time the deposit is paid. Let me know upfront if the painting is for a special occasion and I’ll due my best to meet your deadline. Paintings may take longer depending on the amount of changes made during the review process.

Do you have reference photos?
I work from reference photos for commissioned paintings. If you only have a vision without photos, try to be as detailed as possible of what you’re looking for and perhaps share examples of similar work. If you simply wish to have a piece created similar to one of my existing paintings, be aware that it’s impossible to replicate a previous work completely. Each painting is unique. Take a look through my portfolio or sold artwork pages to find an example of what you are looking for in terms of design.
