This painting is an encaustic abstract representation of geological forms, using a light palette in contrast to the heaviness of rock.  I use multiple layers of expressionistic mark-making and various shapes and forms to depict natural rock formations, erosion patterns, and mineral layers, adding a sense of depth and dimension. The colors range from whites and creams to blues and grays, depicting the subtle nuance of earth tones. The painting evokes a sense of natural beauty, surrealism, and complexity.

Mixed media includes encaustic, oils & cold wax and water-soluble encaustic paint. The title is taken from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
