Language of Leaves began in the forest, in a quiet place where leaves do more than just rustle; they almost seem to speak. I’ve always been drawn to the quiet conversations in the understory: the curl of a vine, the gentle sway of branches, and the way light weaves through layers of green. These gestures inspired this abstract encaustic piece.
In the studio, I turned those impressions into layers of wax, pigment, and texture. The forms drift and overlap like leaves in a gentle breeze. Hints of color rise and fade as leaves do when light moves through them: soft, natural, and quietly moving. This painting is about the feeling of being in communion with nature, conversing with it on a personal level.
Language of Leaves invites you to lean in and listen. It asks you to notice the forest’s quiet, living intelligence and how it reflects our own inner worlds. This piece is meant to bring calm, connection, and a grounded sense of beauty into any space.
