A Guide for Collectors
If you are settling into a new home or exploring the DC Metro Area art scene, you may be craving art that brings beauty, calm, and meaning into your space. This page gathers the questions I hear most from collectors who want a thoughtful, elevated experience.
Choosing Art for Your Home:
What if I have big empty walls and no idea where to start?
A new home can feel overwhelming. I offer personal art placement guidance so you can see how different pieces transform your rooms. Together we explore scale, color, and mood until everything feels just right.
How do I find art that feels personal and not like something everyone else has?
You deserve art that feels like it belongs to you. My work is rooted in nature and memory and each piece carries its own quiet story. If you want something created just for your home, I offer commissions inspired by the places, colors, and emotions that matter most to you.
How can I make my home feel calm and connected to nature?
My encaustic paintings bring texture, luminosity, and a sense of breath into a room. These pieces soften modern spaces and warm traditional ones. They help your home feel like a sanctuary rather than a showcase.
How do I build a collection that feels cohesive and elevated?
A beautiful collection grows with intention. I help you choose pieces that speak to each other through color, texture, and theme. Whether you are starting fresh or adding to an existing collection, I guide you toward a vision that feels unified and deeply personal. Ask for a “private viewing room” link, where you can review a collection I’ve curated specially for you.
Seeing and Selecting Artwork:
Where can I see your art in person?
You are welcome to visit my studio in Purcellville, VA, for a private appointment where you can experience the texture and luminosity of encaustic work up close. I also exhibit throughout the DC region and can share current and upcoming shows.
How do I find out more about a painting on your website?
Every artwork page includes details about materials, size, inspiration, and process. If you want to know more, I am always happy to share additional photos and videos; or set up a call where I can personally describe the story behind a particular piece.
Are all the paintings on the site for sale?
Most available works are listed on the site. Some pieces may be reserved or newly released, so if you are drawn to something, reach out and I can confirm availability or suggest similar works. Also, there’s always new work in the studio waiting to be discovered. Just ask, I am happy to give you an exclusive showing.
Do you offer commissions?
Yes. I create custom paintings tailored to your home, your palette, and the emotional tone you want the space to hold. Commissions begin with a conversation about your vision and the feeling you want the artwork to evoke. You can review my commission process at this LINK.
Materials, Care, and Craftsmanship:
What materials do you use, and how archival are they?
I work in encaustic, a luminous medium made from beeswax and damar resin. These materials are naturally archival and have been used for thousands of years. When cared for properly, encaustic paintings remain stable, vibrant, and beautifully preserved. Cradled wood panels are my base of choice due to there durability, smooth surface, and professional presentation with or without a frame.
How do I care for an encaustic artwork?
Encaustic is durable and surprisingly low maintenance. Similar at any piece of fine art, keep the artwork out of direct, prolonged sunlight and avoid extreme heat or cold. If the surface ever looks a bit dull, a gentle buff with a soft cloth restores its natural sheen.
Logistics and Support:
Do you ship art?
Yes. I ship artwork safely and professionally throughout the United States and internationally at an additional cost. Each piece is packed with great care to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. If you are local, I also coordinate delivery and installation through trusted art handlers.
I am new to the DC area. How do I know who to trust?
I offer a warm, relaxed, concierge style experience. You are welcome to visit my studio, ask questions, and take your time. My goal is to help you feel confident and supported as you choose art for your home.
