On a beautiful summer morning in Deer Isle, Maine, my husband convinced me to go on an early morning kayak trip up the Eggemoggin Reach to take in the scenery. So glad I did! I captured this image and then went back in the studio and used the photo reference to paint the scene on wood panel using encaustic, making sure the brilliance of that day was expressed in vivid color and expressive texture. Mixed media includes encaustic, oils, water-soluble encaustic.
