I named this painting Water’s Path because that’s what I’ve been following for as long as I can remember. As a child, I wandered the woods like a game of hide and go seek, searching for the glimmer of a stream or the soft rush of a hidden waterfall. Water always felt like a secret waiting to be found.

This painting grew from those wanderings. It isn’t a single place but a layered memory of many: mossy stones, cool shadows, the sudden brightness where water reflects the light. Working in encaustic lets me build those sensations into the surface—wax, pigment, and texture echoing the way water moves, gathers, and disappears again. Each layer becomes part of the story, just as each discovery in the woods became part of mine.

Coral Memory is a peek into the hidden world beneath the surface, where vibrant color and movement pulse with life. I wanted it to feel joyful and a little mysterious, like discovering a bright coral bloom tucked away in the deep. It’s about the beauty we carry quietly, full of feeling and color even when unseen.

Memory Swims in Pairs is about how memories often show up together, tangled and drifting like companions in deep water. I wanted the shapes and colors to feel fluid and layered, like moments that surface and slip away. It’s a piece that explores how memory moves in echoes.

“Bits and Pieces” is my way of exploring how recollections come to us in fragments, never quite whole but still deeply felt. I worked with encaustic on rice paper to create layers that feel like moments surfacing and fading, each one textured and imperfect. It’s a quiet invitation to notice the small details that linger, even when the full picture slips away.
