“Dawn Follows the River” was born from a quiet morning spent along the Shenandoah River. I sat at the river’s edge with a thermos of tea, listening to the hush between bird calls and watching the current carry my thoughts downstream. That moment—still, reflective, and deeply grounding—became the emotional undercurrent of this painting. Part of my River’s Journey series, it invites viewers to experience the serenity and spaciousness that nature offers when we slow down and listen.

Running River Winds Along is my way of celebrating the peaceful beauty of summer mornings. This abstract encaustic painting focuses on the gentle curves of the river as it winds through the landscape, bathed in the soft light of daybreak.

“Chasing Sunsets by the Bay” is an encaustic painting inspired by a beautiful sunset I was fortunate to experience over a serene bay in North Carolina. This piece is a tribute to the ever-changing beauty of nature and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.

Through the use of encaustic techniques—layering encaustic over mixed media—I aimed to create a rich, textured landscape that captures the vibrant hues and subtle movements of the setting sun. The warm oranges, pinks, and yellows of the sky blend seamlessly into the cooler blues and purples, reflecting on the tranquil waters of the bay.

My intention with this painting was to evoke a sense of peace and reflection, inviting viewers to pause and savor the fleeting beauty of a sunset.
